“The start of our story ~ 4 generations long (so far)

Our story might be a little different to many businesses around our town, as we’ve been around for nearly 70 years. Cecil Snr and Ethne Johnson (Dean’s Grandparents) opened shop on the 3rd September, 1949. Through those years we’ve gone through quite a lot for a small business. We started out as a small general store and many name changes later we’ve ended up as Kimba IGA, but we’ll always be know as “Johnson’s”. We had a whopping 15 major extensions on the shop, which started out as a shop front of around 9m by 5m which was located entirely on Railway Terrace.

Fun fact, at one point there were 7 food/grocery stores in town and we were the smallest.

Kimba’s our home, our community. We all volunteer within our community and thats something we love about our little town. We believe in old fashioned service, our family looking after yours. ”
